Beechhurst is a neighborhood in the northeastern section of the New York City borough of Queens. It is northeast of Whitestone, bordered by the East River, north of the Cross Island Parkway and between the approaches to the Throgs Neck and Whitestone bridges, and also bordered by the west-most section of Long Island Sound. Beechhurst is an affluent area but parts of the neighborhood (such as along 150th and 154th Streets) have a more diverse mix of housing. Beechhurst is part of the 109th police precinct and is part of Queens Community Board 7.〔(Queens Community Boards ), New York City. Accessed September 3, 2007.〕 The Q15 via 150th Street to Beechhurst provides access to and from the Flushing – Main Street station () on the IRT Flushing Line. The QM2 bus provide express bus service to Manhattan. During the Silent Movie era, Beechhurst was a favorite vacation area for the rich and famous. Estates lined the waterfront, including those of industrialist Harvey Firestone and entertainment impresario Arthur Hammerstein (son of Oscar Hammerstein I and uncle of Oscar Hammerstein III). The Beechhurst Towers hotel (now a co-op apartment building) was a favorite of actress Mary Pickford and was frequented by many Broadway and early movie stars, including the Marx Brothers and W.C.
